Hi guys and gals,
I just bought a Remington LVSF in .204Ruger.
Any of you guys out there have a LVSF?
Can you share your thoughts...!
I want to know the GOOD the BAD and the UGLY about this discontinued model. I had a .223 NIB but sold it before i had a chance to shoot it. had my eye on another Sako Deluxe.....

Any input would be great!

It's a 700! What more do you need? most likely it will shoot well, but there is a chance it may shoot exceptionally well, or shoot lousy. It is a fun caliber and an outstanding varmint caliber. 31 grains of BL-C2 ball powder and a 32 grain Vmax will break 4000 fps.

Yep!
I'm excided about this one.
Shopping for a scope for it. Want to use it for the odd Yote and paper.
Would like to set a 4-14 on it or maybe a 4-12.

Thanks for the response.

I had one in 223, and 17 Rem. Didn't shoot the 17 much before selling it to fund another project, but shot the 223 lots. Had it for about 5 years. Nice light rifle which shot fairly good, 5 shots in 3/4" with a good load.

I have one in .17 Rem. It was one of those guns that went through a few owners in a hurry, mostly because it wasn't much of a shooter. It would do MOA with a few loads, but that isn't good for much on a rifle of this type.
I dropped it off at my gunsmith for a probably unnecessary bedding job, and he called me later that day to say that he thought one land looked frosty for about 1/2" back from the muzzle. He cut it off, recrowned it and it shoots grasshopper groups now. I wouldn't have spotted that in a thousand years.
Oddly, I never use it, probably because its a .17.

When i receive the rifle. I will scope it. Thats another hard thing for me to decide on.
After glass maybe a trigger job. I would like a nice crisp 3-4 Lbs pull.
What would you set on it for glass?
Bob

"Crisp" 3-4 pounds? I would look like a fiddler crab if I had to use a trigger like that for too long! :) I use 1.5 ounces for most of my guns, but for my varmint guns, 1 pound is perfect.

Glass? for your purposes, no need to exceed 20 or 15 power, and go as good as you can possibly afford. You get what you pay for with cheap glass, and a good scope will last a lifetime.

This is going to be a hunting gun not a bench gun. If all i was doing was punching paper, then 1 pound or under would be great but not for what i want it for.
I probably should have posted this in a different forum.
Sorry!

No need to apologize! Valid question, and I tried to answer from a varminter's perspective. I do lots of varmint hunting. Trigger weight can easily be adjusted on t he Remington trigger, so perhaps hookup with someone that can show you how and experiment.

I want to take the odd yote with this rifle. Maybe i will get lucky and the trigger will be ok. I don't like them really light. One fart and it goes off. I will have to wait and see. Rifle was shipped out today.
Now what to scope it with. I was looking at these three scopes:
Weaver Classic V 4-16x40mm AO Fine duplex with target dot.
Weaver Grand slam 4-14x40mm AO Duplex reticle
Leupold VXIII 4.5-14x40mm AO fine duplex.

I'm a Leupold guy but also considering the weavers. Price may help me decide. :p Spend 550-600 on a pre owned leupold or 400.00 for the grandslam? I know where i can get the weaver classic V series for under 300.00. Your thoughts?
