Rem m700

With the cost of pre-fit or barrel blanks, I’m suprised at some of the M700 (and it’s variants (ADL/CDL/SPS etc) in a SA .308 BF that don’t go quicker on the EE.

With the aftermarket availability to the M700 it’s a great starting point for a semi or full on custom hunting build.

This one would be at least a Dozen now 7-08s I have Had M7s M700s Howa1500 LW - still have a REM M7 too. RJ

How do you like the Howa/Vanguard compared to 700s?

Have to say man, the 700s really grown on me compared to a lot of rifles, seems to be an aquired taste haha. Its a svelte, nice handling rifle with a very strong/safe action.

A Rem 700 in 7mm-08 is good to have. ;)

I've only had 5 rifles in 7mm-08.... still have 3, all Rems [Rem 700 sporter; Rem 700 Varmint HB; and a Rem 788 carbine].

The ones I let got were a vintage Browning BBR & a stock Steven 200.

I had a. HOWA 1500 LW 20 “ barrel with a custom stock and a Trigger job all done by BRNO284 and it was GREAT ! 6 lbs -Shot Good - another one I should have KEPT ! RJ

The Howa 1500 short action is VERY NICE !

Oohh that must have been sweet!

Just like the 700 here...thinking a Vanguard in 308 with a slightly bobbed barrel would make a nice little do everything rifle.

I took a whitetail buck yesterday with my 7-08 remington 700.

Jim, you must spend a hella lotta time at the range , developing loads for those rifles!!

The envy is high here… lol

I know for a a Rem BDL chambered in .243.
Has a wood stock and a synthetic stock.
Think he still got it. Maybe
Also a 30 06 Rem with a SS barrel

I’d take a stock Howa over a stock sps 700, better trigger and fit and finish from any of the ones I’ve held and checked out. I like the three position trigger on the Howa more as well, I’m sure an older 700 or a higher end model will have better fit/finish but the Howa 1500’s or Vanguard’s are highly underrated and are sleepers in their price range.

The only gripe I have with Howa is there’s no LH action offerings, 700’s come in LH versions. This won’t factor in for most people though lol.

Presently > BLR, AB3, Wby Vangard, Sav99 and this one that everyone wants to pry away from me, it is a blast to shoot.
