Rem Mod 600 in .308 **mint**

In the last few years I have had 5 or 6 600/660's. I paid as little as $125 for one (in rough shape) and upto $575 for another(pretty nice shape, with a few goodies). None were mint. You often see them listed on here for more but I am not sure if they are selling or not. Of course the the oddball calibers like 6.5 and 350 bring big dollars (+/-$1000) but unless you really really want a 600 in 308 I wouldn't pay more than about $550-600. To me a model 7 has everything the 600/660 has plus a proper bottom metal, bolt release/trigger, bolt handle, stock shape etc and you can pick them up in the same ballpark.
That said I still end up buying the odd 600/660

but they never stay long when I realize my above argument.I agree with double gun; I still have an original "Mohawk" (economy version 600) in 308 .. was my first "big game" rifle and will never sell it. I like it a lot BUT I think the Model 7 is a better option all round and so would value a mint 600 .308 accordingly. Model 7's are very nice rifles.
truer words are rarely spoken....especially in the world of rifles where worshipping certain rifles based on nostalgia is almost a hobby within the hobby...witness the 788 cult following..
I sold my last M600 222 for $550.00 and it was 98% - i think i got near top dollar for it ! Wish i had kept it - VERY accurate rifle ! RJ
