I was wondering what oil everyone uses to clean their AR's? I am using Rem Oil but the bolt seems very dry after it has sit for a couple of days?? Anyone suggest a slicker oil or lube? This is my first AR so I am still learning

Thanks

I thought REM-oil was the best!?! In fact I thought that all REM-products were top notch. If that's not the case then I'll have to get rid of all my REM-oil, REM-paint, REM-munition,REM-cases, REM-slings, REM-chokes, REM-patches and REM-bore cleaner. Not to mention that I'll have to pull the REM-sheets and REM-blankets off of my bed as well as ditch the dog's REM-collar and REM-bowls. No more wearing my REM-boots, REM-pants, REM-jacket or even my REM-undies. I'm feeling so cheated that I can barely look at the picture of my wife that sits on my desk in it's handsome REM-frame, or use my new REM-pen! :p:D

I also use Rem Oil but many people seem to like Millitech because it's supposed to leave a residue that acts as a dry lubricant.

I've been starting to play with high-temp wheel bearing grease. I like it! Doesn't dry up, stays where you put it, seems good for 1,000+ rounds.

I use SLIP 2000, its worked great, but I'm thinking about changing to Millitech after hearing all of the good reviews. Theres a ton of info on most gun oils, especially with relation to ARs, on the internet.

Rem Oil sucks.

CLP is better.

TW25B is best, have not much experience with Slip2000, but people say it works

Militec is a scam IMHO - very poor results with my experiences.

I clean with gunzilla and lube with grease. Ive pretty much tried every magic grease out there and really I find they all work fine.

Do it like this

I use Mobil1, it does not break down with heat or gel up in extreme cold and is a heck of a lot easier to clean off than grease. I use CLP to clean, but for lubricating all of my firearms Mobil1 seams to be my go to lubricant.

Rem Oil is left over oil that is reclaimed off of the machine shop floor in the Factory.
Not the best, much better out there, I like militec, weapon shield is one of the better ones I've used. I have Slip 2000 but never used it. I'm not a fan of the greases but don't have a lot of experience with them.

Breakfree CLP gets another vote from me, has many great properties, cleans, lubes and protects against rust, only things that protects better agains rust is Eezox and only marginally. No nothing about grease as I never use it.

What's the beef with militech? I understood it has a contract with the U.S. army has it been replaced by TW25B?

Militec is NOT approved for use by the US Military.

TW25B is used on the M240's, Mk11, and many other guns, we use it on the SR-16's etc. Army went with CLP instead of SOCOM TW-25B

X2 for a synthetic oil
