Thought I`d share my results with my new Rem XR-100 in 204.
This target is the first 21 rounds out of this gun @ 60 yards. It was a nice sunny day, no wind, and temp was -2.

I bought some Win brass,and some 35gr Berger Match bullets. I loaded 30.0gr BL-C(2) with Rem 7 1/2 Primers.

The scope I put on it is a Elite 4200 Mil-dot 6-24x40 AO

All groups were shot off the hood of my truck off sand bags. I haven`t measured the groups as of yet but I`d think not bad for the first go

With some time I think it could do alot better groups off the bench and a proper rest. Next groups I post will be @ 100 yards.

:D I`m hoping to stretch her legs out tomorrow. I`ll set up proper this time and give the barrel abit more time to cool in between. I was abit anctious today and had to fight the heat waves abit. I don`t believe in babying new guns too much, I`ll give it a good cleaning tonight;)
 
By the looks of it the barrel was getting fowled. I have been using wipe out and it works great. I sold that Eclipse I got from you this spring. It was a very nice rifle but I have a customized 300wm now and I am almost embarased to tell people how much I enjoy it.

I should because right now me and my 6mm are not getting along. I have been trying to shoot heavier than 80gr bullets in it with no success. Damn thing. It better smarten up or it will be in for a rebarrelling. Shoots 70 gr BT into 1/2 an inch and then shoots anywhere from 1" with 87gr v-max all the way up to what the hell is going on here with 90 gr and up. Makes me wonder if I can trust the twist that remington says it has. If it is 1-9.125 then the rifling must be shallow.
 
Hey there Dusty, been a while! When you get some loading data done let me know. I've got one of them Remmys coming in 204 as well.
Now what am I going to do with that 221 Fireball I love so dearly.

Hey RC,

I`m sure you`ll have a soft spot for the fireball that won`t let you sell her:)
I`m going to try the 30.0 gr BL C(2) @ the 100 and then start working my loads up to the max of 30.7 and see what happens. Perhaps I`m pretty close to the sweet load already?:rolleyes:

I`m sure you`ll love the XR. I`m going to lighten the trigger abit, I had left it set the way it was factory. Time to tinker:D
 
Garnet....watch shooting that ball powder in low temps. Things are pretty warm now, but as temp drops, the ball powder doesn't burn completely and before you know it, you have unburnt powder in the chamber etc.....
 
If you want a good demonstration:

Use my prairie dog simulator. Fill 20oz (1 Liter) soda bottle with water and put it out at 70 meters. Fire one round of 35 grain .204 Ruger factory ammo at it.

Observe effect. (Smile on your face!) :D


PS: My current hand load is 26.5 gr. 10x, F205M, Win Brass, 32grain Hornady Vmax.

Future load includes F205M, 24.8 gr. 10x, Win Brass, 40 grain Berger LTB BTHP.

I`ve talked to afew other ppl who own the XR`s all in 204 and they are shooting just as good on factory rounds.
I found the factory set trigger was abit too heavy so tweaked that :)
