Have it sitting in an ESS, great chassis, but I think I want to go back to a nice target stock...

Suggestions?

Anyone have experience with the B&C m40 or varmint?
Dont want to go up to a Mcmillan, but dont want a big downgrade.

I have my Remington 700 in the B&C varmint stock without the adjustable comb or lop. I'm really happy with it but would definitely consider the newer version with the adjustable comb.

Do you know what the magwell is like? Hinged floor/blind?

It's designed for a blind mag. Mine is going to get dremeled for a Magpul bottom metal but the new varmint with adjustable comb combs in an M5 version meant for certain brands of bottom metal if you want to avoid doing any DIY work

I have a B&C M40 and LOVE it. Practically the same price as used HS Precision stocks off the EE. Very comfortable and very accurate.

Pretty long length of pull (~14") and a very different feel from a chassis.

Long limbs, so extra LOP is always welcome.
Greyboe looks nice a la renegade. Canada availability...?

Couldn't stand the sps stock or the hogue.
I had an HS precision on a savage, quite liked that stock, just cant find it for Rem inlet.

Just buy the Magpul hunter, has everything you need and at GP price of 299 a great value and you do not have to dremel for bottom !

Have the B&C M40 on a 700LR in 7mm, also have a Savage 10 with the HS stock.
To my surprise, the B&C is stiffer and less flex in the fore-end then the HS.
B&C use to be associated with meh stocks, today they make good stuff. Outfitted a few Vanguards with them as well. Prophet River usually has a no tax free shipping once a month so you can grab them for $399.
The Magpul stock is garbage, handled one at SAIL, ergonomics suck and it's far too skinny for target use. I'd shoot the rifle with no stock at all before I'd put one of those plastic POS on it.

That m40 style has a lot of appeal, although its hard to say without handling one if its just the iconic look I like lol.

This is the battle/debate I'm having with the Magpul stock. Yeah it's a good price, yeah the options are good, but ......

Very happy with mine. Full aluminum bedding block, of course. Definitely wait for the sales. Not sure why others feel a B&C would be a step down from a chassis as out of the box ergos may not be very good.

I have no issue with my M40 stock either, quite solid and comfortable. The whole gun was $700 new from Coastal Outdoors which is a pretty good deal for the way it shoots.
Cheaper then some SPS versions.

I have a B&C BDL Varmint/Tactical stock that I picked up from Prophet River that is on my Remington 700 6XC build. I use it mostly for benchrest shooting and occasional hunting trips and love it. It has an adjustable cheek rest and the adjustable butt plate for LOP, cant and height makes it custom for each individual shooter.
