Just watched our National Memorial Service in Ottawa - an exercise in hypocrisy.
Our glorious PM could not be bothered to attend, off boycotting trade meetings in the Pacific. Our Lying Defence Minister and our god-denying GG added to the farce.
As a Cold War Warrior with 12 years service, it galls me to see our vets struggle for recognition of their pain and sacrifice while Liberal cabinet Ministers rake in the bucks from their off-shore investments and our PM and his family holiday in the Bahamas, the guests of the Aga Khan.
The National Chaplain asked for prayers for "... those who govern us ...". I prefer to think of myself as represented by my government, NOT "governed". I know that's just an illusion, but it sits better with me.

Very bad on Trudeau to miss the remembrance day ceremony. Speaks volumes of what he thinks of those who serve our country, which is not much. However I am not surprised he chose to miss remembering Canada's fallen. I very much hope he is booted out next election.

I attended a small-scale ceremony here in Aylmer, QC, with one of my sons and his girlfriend. Just 30 minutes from parliament hill - but much, much smaller. But, a really nice, meaningful, respectful ceremony nonetheless. I was quite happy to see many families; parents bringing their children, always reassuring to see that this matters to a lot of people around here.
Now I'm working on a No1Mk3*, what a surprise. My humble way to keep history alive and tip my hat with much appreciation to all those who have served or do serve.

Here in UK we held our annual Remembrance Day parade in a local churchyard where four young men of the RCAF are buried side-by-side. With the Canadian contingent from the nearby military unit, including a piper and the unit padre, locals and Canadians commemorated the loss of young lives, and gave thanks for the sacrifices they unknowingly made on our behalf. There were well over fifty of us there today, standing in the sunlight, all thinking our thoughts. Of my original training squad of twenty-two, only nine are left, and the lost occupy my thoughts greatly, especially on this day.

On a positive note: I think today was my first sunny remembrance day in 15 years and I got to see a lot of old friends who got out and carried on with their life.

My main complain for Remembrance day is the ceremony seems to be more about the individuals up giving the speeches and the Legion than actually remembering those who served. I mean 3 thanks for poppy donations during what is supposed to be a solemn ceremony (where there was constant standing and clapping). Absolutely disrespectful to those who served.
Our Remembrance Day ceremony in Penticton was well attended. It was nice to see the number of children whose parents brought them along.
As I was leaving I was approached by a shy little 7 year old girl and her father. She brought along a couple of cookies with the idea of giving them to a veteran and I'm glad it was me.
Afterwards we went for lunch at a local restaurant where an anonymous lady had left $75 on the counter with instructions to pay for the meals of anyone who showed up wearing medals. While in the restaurant we were approached by 2 little girls, ages 5 and 7, and their grandma who wanted to thank a veteran. It was very gratifying to see that some folks are making the effort to raise their kids to be kind and thoughtful of others and what they do.

Couldn't attend any ceremonies today; working about 5 miles West of CFB Suffield.
But I did shut down the Tri-drive in the middle of the spread field; doffed my cap and stepped out onto the fuel tank, listened to Taps as played by the local station... pondered and reflected in the quiet for a several minutes.

In fairness, The Aussie PM and Trump were also away from home for Remembrance Day ceremonies at the G20 Summit along with other world leaders. I say a pox on all their houses for their insensitivity.
It's our 150th anniversary year as a country and ALL things pertaining to our history are significant, especially our battle honours. Another nail in the coffin of the short lived Liberal government and a step towards Trudeau's ascendency to the United Nations.

Regrettably a thing that pos does will not be reversed
As people realize the extent of damage he is doing in Canada there is less likelihood of him going anywhere at the UN. He does have certain characteristics which would be appealing to the UN, like his leftist and pro-Islamic biases, but he does come across like an arrogant, privileged and foolish elitist and poseur. This doesn't seem to hurt him much at home, but it may be different on the world stage. Here's hoping.
