Don't forget that Wednesday is the last day to enter the Ontario Moose Draw. A hunting buddy was nice enough to remind me.

Don't get left out of the draw, or worse, be stuck in pool 2 for another year because you forgot.

Brad.

Reminder #2.... You can (and IMHO should) do it by phone.

http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/MNR/pubs/pubmenu.html

Scroll down to the hunting regulation summary.

Moose has the codes required to apply for the moose draw.
Deer has the codes required to apply for the deer draw.

Call 1-800-288-1155 and have your Outdoors Card and a Credit Card handy to go with the required code (as found in the .PDF on the website).

Took me about 5 mins to buy my moose license and get into the draw.
Another 5 to buy a deer license and get into the draw.

Oh and I'm headed to 21A Terrace Bay for moose, and 62 Sharbot Lake for deer.

You have until EOB Wednesday if you are applying in person at the MNR office, or 23:55 via phone application (don't wait until the lines and system are jammed).

Brad.

So if they have the tags at canadian tire I can buy 1 then just phone in my hunt code? We have 4 canadian tires around here and 3 hunting stores, so someone must have some. :D

a phone my friend, a phone

The MNR charges $3 to use the phone in system. The very same system that saves them money by not having to manually key punch your entry into the database.

Take the time to go to the MNR, purchase your tags (deer/moose), fill them out and drop them in the box. Let the counter attendant know that you are doing it because of the stupid $3 fee to use the phone system.

Take your 6 dollars saved and put gas in your tank and go scouting.

No, once you make the purchase of the paper tag you are officially on the snail mail route and you are sadly out of time.

If you dont have a government services outlet near you, i'm afraid you are going to be stuck with the phone system.

Phone system or an MNR office. They will take your draw entry.

If you don't get into the draw, you are not totally screwed. You can buy a non-draw calf tag at any time (if you are in an area where you need to get into the draw for a calf... you have some problems again).

A calf tag will also be good for you to party hunt with someone who has an adult tag (and I will guess it is good to party hunt with someone who got a calf-draw tag).

For me, the closest MNR office to Ottawa is Kempville (growing up in NW Ontario I thought every town and city had it's own MNR office..... ) The $6 I pay for using the phone system (which granted is a bastard cash grab) saves me triple that in gas. Of course if I was on the ball I could have mailed the draw ticket in weeks ago for the cost of a stamp.

Where can I get a moose tag? I am not close enough to a MNR to buy one. Lebarons sells them in markham maybe, so could I drop off there tonight and then call in around 8 pm?

Also, just to clairfy something. If I don't get into this draw and get a tag, I can't go hunting for moose at all or how does it work?

Thanks
