...where might one buy one of these used in Canada? My gun has fixed/full choke, I'm thinking I'd like something more open for grouse.

Any/all info. welcome.

Thanks!

Rob

Just about impossible in my mind unless someone may have parted out an old skeet gun. I would send the barrel to have to Briley in the US and for 200.00 US plus taxes etc they will fit choke tubes and return it to you, including three tubes. I had this done on my 870 28ga wingmater. You send the barrel to lawreys??? in ontario and they do the rest. takes about 4-6 weeks.

Try corsonsbarrels.com.

An option for sure but not always worth it. I went that route also at one time on a 16ga barrel. For example a 1148 28ga barrel sells there today for 400-550 US plus 20.00 shipping to a US location .
Then you have to have it imported to canada so add at least another 100 plus.
I buy some barrels off gunbroker also but still by the time I get them here it is cheeper to have briley fit tubes in what I have. Unless the owner must have a fixed choke factory barrel which some people demand, then corsons or the barrel exchange become viable.. Just one man's experiences.

If you don't need the full choke get the barrel reamed or put tubes in it. It is not like they are a big collector's item. Before someone jumps on me for suggesting this they are nice guns but they have the wrong name on them.

Any 28 gauge barrel from Remington will be hard to locate. That the 11-48 hasn't been made for decades will make it only harder.

Were this gun mine I'd have a smith open it up to IC or Modified or if I were feeling flush have choke tubes installed.

Hi Claybuster: When I had my 28ga wingmaster done last year I could not find any shop in canada that had the gear to either hone or thread a 28ga barrel for choke tubes, 20 and 12 yea but not 28gs . That is why mine went to briley in texas.
I have a 410 870 now I would like to get done also do you know of any smiths in canada that can do small gauges.

Can't help you there. Might require a trip to Houston.
