Remington 1100 auto loader cycling

1100

When was the last time you gave it a good overhaul? Even the ports in the barrel should get a good cleaning and the spring in the tube in the stock. Check your O-ring........if it's broken you're only going to have a single shot.

After giving mine a good overhaul,it still wont cycle target loads. Its only 2 3/4 chamber too. I must try some Kents in it. It cycles hunting loads just fine.

Got an Remington 1100 auto loader. When using those cheap Walmart loads, the gun doesn't cycle properly. Anybody else have this issue?

If the gun was made prior to 1987 and you are shooting 23/4" target loads out of a factory remington 3" barrel it will never work. You have to pick up a barrel design for 2 3/4" only to get the correct number and diameter of gas ports. Then it will work just fine;)

Yours I think just doesn't like you and wants to come home with me.:D
Have never seen a 1966 made gun act like yours wish I could see it some day so we could try to figure out what is wrong.Wonder if someone soldered in your gas ports and redrilled them maybe. How many ports in your barrel and what does it say on the barrel 2 3/4" SKEET??

Nope two gas ports. One barrel says "skeet",the other is "full". Its a very nice old gun,in beautiful shape with nice wood. I would trade it for a decent SxS anyday.

The action return spring can also be gummed up with oil and dirt, hindering free movement and causing jams. Check that the O-ring is still good, and clean out the trigger group really well.

3macs1,thats a good article. Ive also read a bunch of 1100 articles possibly as thick as "War+Peace",watched hours of U-Tube vidieos, talked to several 1100 experts, and Im still no forwarder. Im convinced this old gun dosent want to play silly games anymore but is always up for a good day of grouse hunting. So shes enjoying her semi-retirement in the back of the cabinet while the other guns come out to break clays.

We are missing something just have to figure out what it is. I have shot and owned too many of these and have never seen one we could not get working with target loads. Mine will shoot 7/8 oz all day long.
Does it do it with both barrels or just the skeet??? Both barrels are 2 3/4 correct
