Hi folks. I recently acquired an old ( late 60's ?) 1100 . It is a 12 gauge , 2+3/4" gun.
The length of pull is 14" . I believe it is unaltered , because the wood stocks butt is curved , and it wears a hard plastic Remington butt plate that is also curved , with a thin white spacer in between them.
Was this normal length back in the day? Custom ordered that way maybe?
I have quite a few other older shotguns , but this one has the shortest stock in my herd !
I slipped on a Pachmayer Decelerator pad and it fits me a lot better , but I'm not crazy about the look of the slip on pad. I will find a permanent pad for it. Anybody else have an older 1100 with a short stock?
I thought 14+1/4 to 14+1/2 was the norm. Maybe it HAS been shortened?

Many of the older Remingtons with the plastic or Bakelite pads have shorter LOPs. It might have been shortened but if the butt is still curved then it's probably stock. Once they started installing butt pads at the factory the LOP got a bit longer.

Thanks for the replies ! It sure looks unaltered to me. I just found it on the short side of fitting me right , and I'm 5ft 10. Taller men would have their noses on their thumbs .

You must 'shoulder' your gun across your body a lot and more on your arm than shoulder... and shoot in a T shirt. I am 5'10 and prefer 13.5 or even shorter if the weather is cold and a heavier jacket required. How one shoulders a gun can vary the length required by an inch easily.
