Hey all.

I have a Remington 1100 12 gauge.

I was wondering if anyone knew how old that would be. I looked on the website and all of the 1100's have that 'thingy' running the full length of the barrel. Mine doesn't. Any idea when they started doing that?

That "thingy" is a vent rib. Far as my research shows, Remington introduced the 1100 in 1963 and both vent rib and plain barrels were offered from the start. I think they stopped offering plain bird barrels (i.e. no ventillated rib) in the eadly 1980's, but I'm not sure.

You will be able to find the date of manufacture for your gun by referencing the serial number on the remington society website that zenmagic provided. That will give you the manufacture date of the receiver, but the barrel could just as easilly be from a different gun/era. The barrel codes will tell you when the barrel was made.

Thanks

I will look into checkign that code for sure. I doubt if it is a barrel from another gun. This is one that I came across through the "small town barter system". Who knows where it originated from!

Thanks again.

Some numbers

It appears to have a serial on the barrel -> AX019
And the number on the side of the action is -> M******V
