Just bought one at the Landsborough auction can anyone give me assembly, ammo (30cal), and reloading info on it. Plan on using it for deer in the Port Loring area. There has been a couple of fellas on here that seem to favor these rifles and any stories or info on parts would be appreciated.

As to ammo, it is obsolete. Cases are available, and .30-30 data works. Ballistically almost identical to the .30-30. I have heard .30-30 dies will work too, but I don't know for sure.
Ellwood Epps can supply what you need, and may be able to get you some ammo from Old Western Scrounger or some such. Frankly, I'd consider reloading if you don't already.
Should be a great deer rifle for around that brushy area! A peep sight would be a great idea, or if someone has already drilled and tapped it, a compact low-power scope, say a 1 to 4 power.

There is a fellow with some ammo for sale up in Peterborough. If you have access to the EE here is his ad. If you buy it, save the brass!

Uh oh what have you done!? Nice to see some interest in the 14's still.
Reed's ammo has brass with the proper headstamp.
As mentioned the 30WCF data is fine to use but you need to be careful with the COL to ensure it will feed properly, they can be finicky that way.
If you need tear down/ trouble shooting info I can get my booklet out for you.

Can you post us some pics?

good day all:
i have a first year production m14 in .30 rem with a rare watson peepsight and a marbles front sight.
its a great old shooter but i only have 41 pieces of brass for reloading.

As to brass, look in the Equipment Exchange under "Factory Ammo and Reloading Equipment" or just call or e-mail the aforementioned Ellwood Epps. BTW, Remington is making .30 Rem cases again IIRC, as that is the parent case for the 6.8 SPC. Ten years ago .30 Rem brass was very scarce, now it's just uncommon.
