i tried searching for any info on a remington 1911 that i have my eye on but have come up with nothing

any info on the gun before i buy one would be nice

good , bad , otherwise?

I have a R1 I like it a lot. I'm new to hadguns but it feels right in my hand and shoots well. It likes being oiled. I've had a few misfeeds but that's likely the user and my reloads.

better find a ligthly used Kimber, Colt, STI Trojan and have a better gun compared with Rem R1 ...I've checked one on my local dealer and I was not impressed at all...my 2c

where can you find new or used colt 1911s locally in BC?

not going to order one online just yet, after hearing a few horror stories of guns being left on someones front door unattended i'm a little hesitant

so what else is out there that's close to $1000 new in the way of 1911s?

also are long slides available in canada?

fit: perfect, finish: flawless. I have the enhanced version which is perfect right out of the box, all i did to it was add a magwell and a 1pc guide rod -have had no failures of any kind or needed to upgrade anything - its smooth as butter and only maintenance i do to it aside from strip-n-clean is changing the recoil spring every 2000 rounds

I've gone through alot of a guns for the time i've had an RPAL, the best is my Remington R1 Enhanced - the only one I compete with in IPSC

Take a look at Norinco .45s. Supposed to be pretty good as well as cheap

I just got my New Norinco .45 today. Here is some pics and a good site to get grips. The one I got is $349 from Marstar and they are in stock

i had a norinco, figured if nothing else i'll have the frame that i can build on... WRONG - once you tally all the needed changes, it will cost hell of a lot more than just buying a decent gun to begin with. damn thing was soo rough i actually bled, the slide serrations will take there toll if you rack more than 2 times. if you get the chance, just hold one and rack it - that gritty feel of the slide on the frame speaks volume more than i can tell you.

last but not least, norinco may be $350 but your first case of 1000 rounds of 45ACP will be more expensive... if money is that much of a concern; try not to forget the ammo cost

i've had a kimber, wont ever buy a colt cuz just dont like em for some reason and picking up a trojan in 9mm - if you are saying that the R1 enhanced is any less gun that any of these (exception of Trojan, only because of undercut trigger guard); i would like to know your reasons :)

on the other hand , i won't buy anything else but a colt- but i'm running a series 70 that's mostly ed brown tricked out - not the ones of today- my fav is a remington- a remington -rand issue m1911a1- kimbers are waay overpriced for the value, and there's been less than stellar field reports from the usmc- as to the long slide, do a little reading and ask yourself if you really want tone of those- the 45acp is DESIGNED to reach full burn in 5 inches of barrel, so th only thing you gain is sight radius- and you pay for that in CLUMSINESS

Check armco

I did my stint on the 1911 trail. I have shot the R1, and looked at the Enhanced, nice 1911 for the money. After comparing it side by side to other 1911, it's seem at the right price point. I think you really get what you pay for most of the time with 1911s

I found this youtube video helpful Things to consider 1911

After my research, I think I would get the STI Trojan for an extra couple hundred bucks over the Enhanced.

didn't see anything on the armco website

i found one on the wolverine website last year and haven't seen one since

i only want one for the sake of wanting one

well after reading up on the R1 i can only find that they have initial feeding problems until they are broken in

i think my mind is kinda made up at this point but i'm still interested in what other 1911s are out there and how well they are made how reliable they are and what mods can be done to them
