No you didn't.
This one wears an SA stamp on the left side of the barrel and looks like it has been fitted with a Finn two-piece jointed stock.
How's the bore?
PP.

The bores not great PP - dark with frosting, but still good rifling and surprisingly accurate!
And yes, Finn marked.
"Finn two-piece jointed stock" - do you mean the joint under the rear sight?
I didn't know that was a replacement, what did the original stock look like?
That finger joint is certainly a fine piece of work - better than most furniture joints!
So what is "market value" on these then?

The Finns used to install arctic birch replacement stocks when refurbishing their Mosins.
Arctic birch is very warp-resistant even at very low temperatures as are stocks made with it, especially with the beefier finger-spliced two-piece affair. Some models often exhibit the typical "pot-bellied" look which is a stronger stock design than its Russian counterpart.
Actually, you did well at that price.
I would say a New England Westinghouse or Remington Mosin in good shape is worth about $175.00-$200.00
PP.:)

Thanks a lot fof all the info, it's giving me a better idea on what to pay for a g / vg Mosin.

Hmmm, I just found one on the Accuracy Plus website:

O853 Mosin Nagant 1891 Remington 7.62x45R excellent $399.00

Would "Excellent condition" make it worth that?
Maybe it could be one of the US rifles that never got shipped to Russia? (I understand they command a premium down south)

I e-mailed and asked them about Mosins they had awhile back, I believe including that one, and they were all Finned.

Nyet! :D

I'm only a Mosin guy, if I recall I only had a couple in with the Remmy. And it may have been cheap, but its a good rifle. It was my first Imperial (Finned) Mosin and one of the first rifles I used at Service Rifle. Always a good gun, it was the guy behind it which guaranteed a low score :slap:

I didn't want to steal your thunder canuck, nice Remmy!
