Remington 2008 Sneak

I also remember it was about a year ago or so that Remington prices jumped about 15-20 percent. They are back to where they were 18 months ago.

"LSS 700 grey laminate semi gloss stock, stainless steel, chambered in 257 Weatherby Mag"

The Vanguard is obviously costing Remington some sales....especially in the 257 W chambering..now they have to play catchup....if they offer a 26" tube it'll sway a lot of guys looking at the Vanguard 257W

Just a comment: I find it interesting all the demand for the .257 Weatherby. Whether it's the velocity, energy, ballistics, etc, it seems like a good time to introduce a .25 WSM/SAUM. I have read this round does everything the .257 Roy can, but a 257 WSM/SAUM sounds much more interesting to me....

There is a lot of "buzz" on the benchrest forum about Remington's specs on the 260 Rem CDL SF ... that the twist rate is 1:10 and the length of pull is
14". Speculation is that Rem has a "misprint" in their information. One "poster" said he called Rem and was told that "engineers" had calculated the twist rate???? I did some research on the optimum twist rate for a .260 Rem that I am having built, and went with the 1:8 twist. A 1:9 twist will stabilize everything most folks would put in a 260, but a 1:10 could be problematic........... The formula I use to calcualte the twist required to stabilize a bullet is:

150 X diameter sqaured
____________________ = Max length of bullet that will be stable

twist rate

I was just going thru the 08 catalogue and noticed a few things missing for this year. Like the Stainless 798, it only lasted one year. But hey, they now have a stainless 770.:p

Also the Model 7 line is looking like shjt. You have a choice of the CDL or the CDL, WTF? Unless you want a small caliber predator model. The M7 XCR didn't last too long either. I thought it would be here for a while??
