Usually load my .243 shells for my Savage but decided to try a box of commercial Remington .243 80 gr. psp. and found they shot darn good at 100 yds. So now I would like to reload but wondering what powder these commercial shells are loaded with. I have looked on the internet, but not been able to find what powder is used. Does anyone have any idea? or can you point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

The manufacturers do not publish the powders or the loads they use. You cannot get the powders they use anyway as those powders are not sold to the public.
Your loading manual might have a factory duplication load(not that it says which factory). Mind you, not a manuals have that. Lyman's does, but it's about duplicating the factory velocities.
Remington says their 80 grain PSP has a MV of 3050 fps. Hodgdon starting load of H380 gives 3,147 fps. Give you a place to start.

From a number of pulled 308 Winchesters 150 grain bullets, the powder appeared to be similar to !MR 4895.
From five different lots the weight of the powder varied 3.5 grains, and from one box there was a 2.1 grain difference.
That powder was used to reload 168 grain Hornady BTHP Match bullets.
It worked but I have no idea if my assumptions were correct.
Worked meant a number of sub 1" 5 shot groups at 200 yards.
I doubt it is safe to assume what powder is coming out of a factory round as they buy in bulk . . . like barrels and tons!
