Nice laminate stock. I wish Ruger laminate handles had checkering. That matte finish looks like my cheap ADL only in SS not black oxide. I hope it's just the pic's 'cause it looks kinda cheesy IMO.

you gonna keep it in that stock, or change it up?? Looks heavy, but sharp.:)

she will stay as-is, 8.25 lbs scoped

BCBB, the finish on the action is like any stainless BDL, if thats what you're wondering about. The stock is gloss finish.

selling my .280 remington

I've played with that cartridge for quite a few years now and i've decided to take the plunge and sell the thing. I had premier firearms put a chrom-moly fluted barrel 26" long on a springfield/parkerhale action. We mounted the whole rig onto a Mcmillan A2 stock with a rail for a harris bipod. I topped the contraption off with an Elite 4200 mil dot recticle scope. Purchased dies and all the required accessories for a very enjoyable toy. I just let the whole thing go for $1500.00 Although There hasn't been any monetary transfer yet, I'm wondering if this is such a good idea. I've since bought a Savage (308) and are produceing some outstanding groups for me (3/8" @ 100 meters) consistantly and because this rifle weighs in at a fraction of the .280 Rem, that's why I'm letting the .280 go. Can anyone give me their thoughts on this?

Bartel, very nice rig. I'd be interested in the results you get from the range. I had a 280 that shot 139 Hornadys very well using H4350. Speed was about 3050 and easily under 1" out of a mtn rifle.

couldnt wait for my Redding 280 dies to show up, so I made some ammo using my 7mm Rem Mag dies  seemed to work ok

got to the range this afternoon, and within a half dozen shots I was sighted in at 100 meters

160 grain Nosler Accubonds over RL22 shot well, here's a group (.73")

I then tried 154 grain Interbonds over RL22, and they kept puking into 3-4 inch @ 100m (2 groups). Out of curiosity I tried them at 200 meters, and shot a 9 inch 5 shot group :runaway:  so..Interbonds are scratched off my list :p

recoil was easy to handle, the gun weighs 8.25 lbs scoped

should be a good shooter, I am thinking it will be a consistent sub MOA rifle once I free float the barrel, bed the action, and do some more handloading for it

well Ive been playing a bit with my new 280 in the last couple weeks, trying to get the Barnes 120s to group. I wasnt successful, and seeing how I am cramped for range time during hunting season, I decided to do the unthinkable and pick up some factory ammo :runaway:

well the Federal Fusion 140 grainers shoot real good. 1" groups @ 100m, 1.3" @ 200m, and 1.9" @ 300m

I'm good to go for hunting now, here's a pic of my last group at 300m
