remington 30 round banna mags

ok so i was out with my vtr and its working great...with the 10 round metal mag, not so much with the 30 rounder, any tips or suggestions?

also the big problem is the 30 rounder is not locking the chamber open when they are empty causing me to dry fire way to much, any ideas?

i only run my 30 round magazine to 20-25. The third last round always ftf, so I pull the magazine out and tap the magazine on something. I can't remember if my 30 round magazine locks the bolt open on my 597.

Mine locks back if I doesn't there could be a problem with your follower. Try taking it apart and cleaning and lubing it.

i only load 27 rounds in mine

Makes you wonder about those stories of G.I.'s loading only 27 rounds in their M-16 mags, for reliability....

ok so i took it apart, and cleaned it well it seems to be locking back , but i noticed there was a fair bit of play on its hinge (side to side not vertical) is that normal ?

Mine jammed a lot at first. I am finding it is working better the more I use it but you do have to keep it clean. I usually only load it to 25 rounds as it jams mostly in the first 5 rounds when loaded to 30.
My 30 rounder does lock back on the last shot. Keep it clean is my only suggestion. Both the chamber and the mag.
