Remington .300 Savage ?????? Reloading

Are you sure .300 Savage is out of production? I've certainly seen it on the shelves in this area. Cases can be easily made by sizing and trimming .308. I have also made cases from 6mm, .243. Had a 99 with grossly excessive headspace. It was easier to form brass than to try to fireform factory ammunition.

Nope, savage reintroduced it in their bolts this year. Factory ammo has been available for as long as I'm aware, theres tons of these rifles out there in different models mainly the savage 99's. He might have it confuzzled with the .303 savage, it is discontinued and pretty hard to find.

I have a 700 "Classic" in 300 Savage. No problem getting factory ammo if that is what you want. My 700 is one of the most accurate factory rifles I have ever owned, and a friend who owns a 760 in 300 says his regularly groups around 1¼" at 100 using 165 grain Hornadys and Reloder 15. Regards, Eagleye.

300 savage is harder to find but it is available. I buy Federal at Canadian tire in 150 and 180 gram. Then I reload my own brass.

I am the proud owner of a Savage model 99 lever action with a 4x scope mounted. Its from the 1950's and is quite accurate and I have shot many deer with it. My Dad is using it now for deer hunting because he is old and hates change. Damn new fangled devices:rolleyes:
