I have recently acquired a remington 700 stainless pre-owned but seldom used. It has a detachable mag and a synthetic stock. At first I believed that it was a remington sps, but the calibre is in 300 weatherby mag. Remington lists it as a special production in 1990. Just wondering if anyone also has the gun in 300 wby mag? I took it to the range and it almost shoots sub-MOA.

Yes I had one. ;) Probably shouldn't have sold it, but I wanted something else. Remington 700 BDL S/S DM. Some of the short action vers. came with fancy scrolling on the receiver. Not on the 300 wtby.

There was one in the EE a while back in .300wby with the scrolling on it...

It shot very well. Despite only a 24" barrel it was getting advertised velocities for reloads. Liked 180 Nosler partitions and plain Hdy spire points which both had the same point of aim at least at 200 yds. So a good hunting bullet and a relatively expensive practise one. The hdy's blew up on close range hits on animals so I wouldn't reccommend for hunting at hi-velocity. Remingtons core loks weren't as accurate.

The 300 Whby I sold shot better than the new 300WSM I purchased. Did you buy it at Pullen's by chance some time ago?

I have one. Remington made roughly 10000 of them from 89/90. An idea from the custom shop I think. Remington makes a special run of rifles every year. That was from then. I shoot 180 interbonds out of mine. All handloads. Shoots great. Got rid of the wood stock and stuck it in a bell&carslson. Shot a moose 2 years ago at 560yards with it. I've since retired it to the gunsafe and shoot a 300rum.
