Hi guys,
So I took the plunge and bought a quality 22 finaly.
A mint never fired mid 70s Remington 541S from a estate.
Beautiful gun, and I am now stuck trying to decided what to put on it for a scope?
Do I go with a vintage Leupold?
New Leupold
Vintage other brand?
New something else?

I will do a bit of target shooting, and shooting with my kids, but no competition shooting(well maybe one day)
Squirrel and grouse hunting.

Thoughts are appreciated, and also comments on the 541s in general.
Thanks Lee

I`ve had a 541-S for many years (bought new). It is one of my "Never/Ever Sell Guns". Shot literally many thousands of gophers, taught my daughters and grandson to shoot with it. I currently have a Leupold Freedom VX Rimfire Tri M.O.A. 3-9x40 on it with Weaver # 15 2 piece bases. Very accurate gun, has functioned flawlessly for many years with various ammo. Brings a smile to my face every time I shoot it, enjoy it, you will love it.

We like BDC reticles on our .22s as they give you defined reference points for various ranges. Much faster and user friendly than constantly dialing for every shot. Nothing wrong with dialing for strictly target shooting though. JMO.

The 541S I inherited from my father has a vintage 6x B&L on it with fine duplex crosshairs. They are lovely made rifles and quite accurate.

Since it is still mint, it only gets bench fired and never used in the field.

The accuracy of the 541S will easily use a 24x I currently run the 6-18 VXlll looks classic specially with the bell or tapered turrets.shoot me a email you’ll really like the look.
