was always curious what people thought of the remington 572 pump rifles. were they accurate? figured it must be a great open sight rabbit gun

The 572 is a fantastic rifle especially the BDL model. I had one 20 years ago and with a 12x scope I could easily get under an inch at 50 yrds using bulk ammo. There are two models the basic and the deluxe BDL model which comes with a really nice set of high easy to find sights. The BDL has a shiny durable Dupont finish stock and the sights I described. They are a real pleasure to use with open sights as for me most rimfires are. If you can find a used one hold onto it I wish I had. They are one of those classic .22s like the Marlin 39, Browning SA-22 etc. They are around on the used market but are becoming rare at least from what I have seen. As for actually using them the pump cycle is very short and smooth and the overall length of the is quite long but creates a great balance.

I have an older one now probably from the 80s. My dad gave it to me, it’s a keeper for sure. I put like 22 , 22 shorts in the tube magazine. The iron sights line up well with eye and gun balances well. I haven’t shot it for groups but it rings steel plates well.

Great rifle, and with a good 3-9x40 scope on it the gophers will hate you!! Had one for many years and always take it out for gophers. I often take the 552 with me as well!! Nothing like twice the fun. Buy one, and you won't regret it!!

Excellent .22 and seem to be highly prized for people. I absolutely love mine, it was my dads when he was 18 and now it’s mine and then it will be my sons.
