Remington 58 vs Remington 1100

Hi. The 1100 is still being made for one. The M58 was discontinued in 1963. It was a modifiied 870 with some 11-48 parts thrown in. Gas system had to be manually adjusted for different loads. If you need or want another barrel you can convert an 870 barrel. Same firing pins, extractors, extractor spring & plungers, many of the trigger group parts and butt stock as a current 870 though. If you ever needed to replace the forend, you'd have a hunt ahead of you and it won't be cheap. No interchangeability with any current model.
