Are they accurate? Are they reliable? They're priced right so do or don't?

Just looking for PERSONAL experiences, and please... No 10/22 talk in this thread.

Well just go an buy a 10/22! ... Lol kidding, yeah the remington 597 is a decent gun but they have there share of issues. The hi-cap mags aren't of the highest quality either.

Nutnfancy has a good rundown of it. Basically agrees with the above, good gun, lousy magazines.

Yeah I've had 4 10/22's and an sr 22 in the last 2 years, they alays get sold though, and I've had a 60 and a 795.
Both the marlins I owned had cycling issues. And the high cap mags... I can do without em. I mainly want this rifle as a plinker, when I'm feein too lazy to work the Bolt on my fvsr. Lol
Will be used for everything from 25 yard targets n gophers out to 200 + yard steel targets.

Will this gun suit my needs? If I'm able to hold .5" groups at 50 it's good enough for me.

WWS had them for $216, seemed like a good price, gave up waiting a long time ago, they never got any and I tried finding one all over the place, now I m hoping one will just magically appear infront of me, my 597 vtr likes the pro mag 22rd mags btw, got them from mystic, they don t look as stoopid as the remmy 25s

I have a 597VTR, its awesome. no issues with the hi-capacity magazines either. My buddy has the Green stocked heavy barrel scoped rifle, it is also great, no issues at all, his 30 round magazine sucks though, will not work well in his rifle or mine.

The 30 round mags need to be fitted. They are over sized and do not insert all the way properly without a little sanding. Once you sand them to fit they work fine.

And I'm looking specifically at the 16.5" heavy barrel with OD synthetic stock. $229 seems like a great price

I boughgt one for my brother at xmas...
He's been using it for rabbits...
'No complaints... He's VERY pleased with it's function and accuracy.
Of course... Compared to the POS Cooey he "found" in the woods that he's been using... 'Even a 10/22 would impress.

I actually bought the OD green heavy barrel today @ Lebaron in Ottawa for $205. Also got the 30rd mag for an additional $18 something. The clear mags will give you issues...the polymer/plastic used for the clear version tends to bind and cause hang ups. The black polymer mags apparently run much smoother. This is a really cool little rifle and it's exactly the size and style I was wanting for plinking. Getting two more 30 rounders tomorrow. :)
