I've got my sister's 597, and in sighting it in a few days ago, realized the front fiber optic sight is loose... It looks like a pressed in sight, but I can shake it side-to-side right now... Dab of loctite? Something else???
Try a piece of brass shim to tighten it up the front sight in the dovetail. It comes in different thicknesses, more than likely 0.001” will tighten it up. If the gun is new try to get some warranty, you might end up with no firearm for a while.
slip it out, squarsh the little dovetail mounts a bit with a pair of pliers to displace the base, re-install. Or you could shim it with pretty much anything thin enough, i like cut up pop cans.
Peen it. One time non-bubba solution. Flip the sight over and use a center punch to dimple the base of the sight directly under the dovetail cut. Do one side only. This will displace metal into the dovetail tightening it properly. Remember, dovetails taper and you drift in from the right side of the gun to the left as viewed from behind the rifle. With this in mind do not peen too close to the left side of the sight as that side inserts first. 2 peens near the middle work well. When you fit a dovetail you want it to fit halfway in by hand and drift the remainder in. If you don't have a small, fine 60° file then go slow to get the fit you want. If you go too far then a 60° file is used to refit it.
