You mentioned BASS PRO, how is BASS PRO's customer service? Say you purchased a rifle, after 1st trip to the range, it has defects? Do you have to deal with Bass Pro or the manufacturer? I know, Le baron-Markham will take care of this since it was a manufacturing issue. Depending on who you are dealing with, they will either replace it with a new rifle or coordinate a warranty claim with the manufacturer. I am not familiar with how BASS PRO deals with defective firearms from the box.
597 owner here too, outstanding performer, right out of the box it was bang on at 100, but I had to go through three of them at Bass Pro to find one without machining debris in the chamber.
