I've got a Remington 597 yellow jacket with a heavy barrel (i know i know, it's very ugly), and I'm looking for a stock that is a little lighter/ that I won't be afraid to bash around.
Anyone make a drop in stock for a 597 with heavy barrel?

no, it was a model of 597 as well. bright yellow and black. I don't think it did well, so they discontinued (?) it

Thanks, I just googled it as well, I have a regular grey stock one and a VTR as well. I dont know why but remington rounds suck in remingtons.

The only 1 I know of is Boyds Gun Stocks;

I was looking at the Boyd's too, looks pretty sweet, the tacticool one. I haven't been able to find a good pic of it though just lots of them on 10/22's.

Dude... remington rounds suck in everything. Have a peek over at rimfirecentral and you'll get plenty of reports of their suckishness in everything from Anschutz to CZ.

Revolution Trailblazer stock. I have one for my 10/22 and I love it. It might be a bit heavy for what you're looking for but they make other models. Fit is excellent on mine.

I put an Archangel stock on my 597. Fit very well--nice & light--kinda cool looking. Add a cheapo vertical foregrip, and you're good to go. I'm not particularly gentle or careful with mine, and it stands up pretty well. Mystic Precision sells them.
