I picked up a new 597 TVP last weekend. Took it out to the range for some fun and was sorely dissapointed. About every second or third round wouldn't cycle properly. It would stovepipe or the bolt wouldn't slide all the way back enough to cause the hammer to engage the sear.
I was using cheap Federal Bulk Pack and thought it was an ammo issue of not causing enought kick to the bolt.
I ripped the rifle apart to the last screw and polished the guide rails, bolt, hammer and the sear on the buffing wheel.
Lubed it all up and took it back to the range for another test. Shot a whole box of 525 rounds without a single issue
The trigger is a lot lighter and really smooth and crisp as well.
Now to get the scope sighted properly and I'll be really happy with my investment.
