Remington 597 VTR optics?

What are you guys (and gals) using for optics on your 597 VTR's??

I just bought one and am looking for recommendation.

i have the TVP version (skeletonized stock) and just put on a $60 airsoft-grade 3-9x56 scope on it with rings that make it sit as low as possible. optical quality is good at the 3-6 range, but kinda iffy at the 6-9 range. but the 56 objective gives a nice large bright image, and i don't need to worry about the massive recoil of a .22LR rattling it apart. i've got a $100 6-24x60 coming in that'll go on my Savage, we'll see how that one compares.

I shoot short range so I got a red dot but with a 32mm sizing. Much better than the old smaller lens I had.

I put a acog style bushnell Trophy red dot on mine. Looks good and shoots tight.

I'm considering this one for my 597 Archangel, as well. Could you possibly post a pic? How much did you pay for the sight? They seem to be about $220 here (Vancouver area).

Yeah they were for sale at my local gun shop for $239. I just kept checking the EE optics section on here and bought it off another CGN'R for $150 in like new condition.

Tasco 3x9x56mm illuminated mil-dot cheap and good enough out to 200 meter's for me.

update on mine - the 597 TVP is now host to a bushnell 6500-series 1.25-8x32 scope on low 6-bolt rings. long eye relief means it's mounted more forward that most, but the image is bright and the mag range is excellent.

I have a Tasco 1 x 32 mm rimfire open reflex red dot scope on it now, but thinking of putting on a Bushnell Trophy 1 x 32 red / green T dot scope

Simmons 22mag 3-9x32, first scope ive owned but has served me well so far. Only issue is the supplied rings are dovetail so wont mount on the VTR rail but just need to buy ones that will.
