did a search and only came up with 2 results for this gun.
Saw it on the weekend and was impressed with the overall feel and quality of the gun and was looking at picking one up.
However since then, I have come across many, let's just say, more negative than positive remarks about this gun. General consensus has been in no specific order, FTF, FTE, QC issues and the list goes on.
Any members here have any owner experiences they wish to share before I take the dive? Any who have purchased say within the last 6 months?
Were most of these issues related to the initial batches as I heard there was a recall to remedy some of the complaints?

thanks

You'll find lots of love for these guns if you get talking to people. I got one around a year ago and I love it.
I didn't find and QC issues with mine, but as for the FTE, yes, that can be an issue but its easy to fix.

95% of the problems with this gun are fixed with a few allen keys and 5 min of your time. (I can go into detail if you like, but im assuming you dont have one yet).
If you like it, I say get it. You'll hear a lot of folks here telling you they suck and lots saying the same thing as me. It depends on who finds your thread lol.

The price is right and it'll drive tacks. Like any semi .22 you'll have to find out what ammo works best but cci is a good brand to start off with.
I say get it, and several of my friends will agree :)

that's good to hear 223Rem and thanks. I'm just waiting for my dealer to get back to me with time frame.
Might take you up on the quickie fix if it's still okay, when it gets here.

you may not need the fix as you may not have a problem.... I have the marlin equivalent and have done dome great stuff with it.... get it... try it... make decision

Did you try searching this forum, using vtr as your search word? I just did and there are 6 pages worth of posts to check out.

Anywho, I'm going to be picking up a vtr myself. Didn't like it at first, but I'm comin around!

thx for this jlovie, I always keep forgetting to set the time to 1yr or more.

Talked a local shop and asked his opinion, and he says he loves it. He thought the 10/22 is better, but the 597 is good or equal too, as long as you have the right ammo.

I think I have about 2 weeks to go, and then I will be picking my VTR up.

Try it out when you get it, if it runs good then dont worry about a thing, if it jams up on you im happy to help :)

......did you see that VTR in the EE? Made-up of VTR/597 magnum bits. I've never wanted a Remington .22, never wanted a 597, but THAT rifle got me wondering. :)

BTW~no affiliation to the seller, and if he's reading this, I can't afford your gun!

This is all sweet music to my ears everyone.

Just got off the phone with one of CGN sponsors (we both had similar concerns and when informed about the "fixes" he was onboard) and the one I want is the only one in stock apparently so on order it is. Should be in my hands by weeks end and then testing at Silverdale. Looks like I will need to sample maybe a few more brands of ammo too.
thanks all for the input.

223Rem yes definitely will try it out as stock and see what results we get and if need be I'll PM ya if you don't mind.

cheers

sweet :) you'll like it. Fixed stock or adjustable? have you thought about optics yet?

My son wanted the look of the AK47 so went with the fixed stock and 30rd banana clips. Apparently it ships with this particular one so also grabbed an extra one, not sure if it will have the standard 10rd.
As for optics, not yet but will be getting one when I pick it up. Most likely one of Bushnells' red dot, just something with a nice field.
Any suggestions?

thanks klrklr. I'll keep you all posted and hopefully will have a recap after the weekend if it arrives by Friday.
