Yeah thats what I want to build!

But....

1)Who sells a heavy barrel for this 597? Is it drop in like a ruger?

I have done some reading and it looks like the boyds "tacticool" rem 597 stock comes in under the 100 international order rule, am I wrong?

2)Can they ship this north of the border? Just a finished stock?

Its a savage 93. The stock is amazing, huge difference and comfort while shooting

That pic doesnt work, but i'm sure it's cool. Did you have to buy the bottom metal for yours? I have a savage 93R17 FV and if the stock is the same price as the $92 on for the 597, they both may get one!

Crap, I'm trying to post on my phone so I don't get full menus.

I should have, I just did a little rework, made the trigger guard fit

If you do a search in this forum you can find a thread I made posting pics

Contact Dlask.
It won't be cheap & won't cost you an arm and a leg but he does have 22 blank barrels and can do the install for you.

as far as I know heavy barrel for 597 isn't drop in thing. It has thicker neck that doesn't fit into receiver "U" slot. Easy to fix with short pass on lathe machine, but that makes barrel as thin as usual in a junction area, making the whole ordeal kina useless. But then, I had bull-brreled 597 and reciver that would accept bull barrel is weakened in junction area, mine has cracked right there at the "U". Friggin idiotic engineering on otherwise great rifle. I have two 597's, ever after some failures, it still beats 1022 hands down.

now re-reading my own post I guess I should say - remington has two versions of receivers, one for light barrel and one for heavy. Or should I say 4, receivers stamped differently for 22lr and 22WMR, although there are no differences other than barrels they meant for.
