After weeks of deliberating, I bought the 5r. Now I have to find a scope. I have already bought a nightforce base and mark 4 rings. So, any suggestions for what I should put on this thing?
Best,

Deciding on a scope is harder than picking the rifle, so much to choose from.
Sightron has a great selection and offers a lot for the $, I find the S3 8x32 is a great scope that covers a nice range of uses and turret/reticle options.
Best is if you can look at a few options in person as its a very personal choice.

I have a viper PST on another rifle. Great scope for the money. I was thinking between 1500-2000 for the scope. Probably not more than 2 grand.

If your looking to spend 2000 to upgrade the 5r, I would go with a Vortex/Sightron (also had one that I sold with a rifle, great glass...I just like the zero stop on the Vortex for quick adjustments) that are in the 1000 buck range and drop it in an A5..that's what I did and you get a rifle that competes with a full blown custom rifle..IMO

McMillan A-5. Those seem to be pretty popular. I don't have any experience with the actual stock. How does it compare with some of the HS precision stocks? I was looking to upgrade the stock, trigger, and bottom metal. I have to put a scope on it still. So all in all, I have a lot of spending to do. Saving a little money on the scope would be find by me, I have thought about buying another Vortex as I do like it. However, anyone think it is worth buying a Nightforce, or Leupold and just buy once cry once?
Thanks,

You might need to bump your budget a bit, but a Nightforce 5.5-22X50 with zero-stop, high speed turrets, and your choice of reticle is an outstanding do it all scope...will last a lifetime.

I prefer it over the HS stock because of the vertical grip and I don't like the palm swell of the HS precision. They are a very well built stock and are quite rigid. If you get one that is fully adjustable you can make it fit your body perfectly making a long day of shooting more comfortable and consistent. By no means am I a world class shooter that has tested or evaluated different types of stocks, but they seem to be a popular choice for many Law Enforcement, Military and Precision shooters. I believe the A5 helped with my shooting which could be a bit of a mental thing but that is half the battle after all....

These is a US Optics on the EE within your budget, i would jump all over it. I personally shoot a Vortex PST and love it, however, next time around I will be buying USO. In my order of favorites:
S&B
USO
NightForce
Vortex/Sightron
