I just picked up a Remington 600 in 308 Win. Just wondering what options there are out there for stock replacement? Also does anyone know if you can replace the floor plate/ trigger guard? It is butt ugly . I would prefer steel not plastic. Has anyone had a "normal" bolt handle put on one of these ? It has a 18 1/2" barrel and shoots well, just don't like a few things on it. Thanks for your input.

Brown Precision, High Tech, Ramline, Six Enterprises, MPI, among others all make stocks. A company called Whitetail Industries (if memory serves) used to make metal bottom metal. Putting a normal bolt handle on moves it back far enough that it will smack your knuckles on recoil everytime, if you have large hands. I don't, and have put a 700 handle on. They're just soldered in place. Nice little guns, I have 4 or 5. - dan

This guy makes a GREAT light-weight aluminum trigger/guard floor plate:

Installed one one my 600 last week and its excellent. Prefer the idea of it being lighter vs the steel since it kind of falls in line with the light/compact concept of this rifle.
Going to order the HT Specialties stock next. Several guys on here inc. Dan have been very helpful regarding the 600's.

Also, just installed a Gre-Tan bolt shroud/firing pin assembly to light it up a touch more.

Check out the EGW scope mount for the 600:

Wish I could find some tritium backup sights for it.
Really dig the Mohawk 600.

Here is another great guy for Rem 600 bits, I bought a matte blue steel trigger guard from him, he also has stainless and aluminum versions.

Artie: Thanks for the plug!
They're also less expensive than most.:D

Hey Willie,

Didn't know you were a CGN'er..

My pleasure. You make a top notch product and have great customer service.

And yes, you offer it at a really good price. Heck, its $100 LESS than the steel version from Brownell's!!! And again, I think light-weight aluminum is the correct choice for the 600 so its a win win. Hope you sell lots of em.

Check some of the iron sight manufacturers. A lot of them make generic night sights for a standard dovetail, and they can be used on the 600/660. I have Ashley, Millet, and Redfield, and another who's name escapes me at the moment, mounted on some of my 600's. - dan

Thanks Dan, think I will explore this. Something like the Tru-glo light-pipe/tritium set they make for Glock's would be really useful.

As stated there are many stock options available. As for triggerguards, you can buy an aftermarket - or most aftermarket stocks are available with blind mag style inletting, they take a ADL triggerguard. But if you are changing the stock, triggerguard, and bolt handle, why not just sell it and buy a model 7?
just my $0.02.

Charlie38.....I have a Mohawk 600 .308 with an after-market 700-style bolt handle installed. To prevent my right fore-finger from taking a rap on recoil, the handle has been bend slightly forward. It works well and to my eye looks better than the standard dogleg 600 bolt.

Remington 600 Mohawk, in 204 instead of 222 like it was when i got it. Internal mag, Remington Tactical bolt handle installed as well as the trigger and safety body.

Stock is a Roberstson Composite, you pick the colour, and options.

Don't know why so many make such a big deal about the 600 Bolt Knob. I don't buy this stuff for fashion. It functions well and actually like the flat underside of the bolt knob. Find it easy to get a good grip on it even though its closer to the stock than normal.
For the most part I think the 600 is a brilliant design.

as mentioned if you change the bolt knob it will hit your hand in any serious caliber, bending a 700 bolt forward may not look any better, the advantage of the 600 action over the 7 is a shorter length and lighter weight
going to an adl trigger guard has 2 problems no front screw and trigger sits in the middle of the trigger guard instead of the back at least in my Brown Precision stock
downside to any metal trigger guard is hand carrying in cold weather
this action makes it worthwhile to go to short action cartridge in terms of size and weight
only wrong design feature was the barrel rib on some models
