Remington 600

It has to attach to the barrel at some point or else it would fall off n'est ce pas?
Of course it is attached but it is not rigidly attached at each point. It wiggles. Now, because it was not a premium rifle (hence the plastic parts)things didn't always act as they were intended. Also, as I recall, all the little studs were spotwelded onto the barrel so I doubt the engineers were too worried about stresses. I once had to retro-fit a rib to a 600 from which the rib had been removed and the studs ground off. I made up some studs, drilled and tapped the barrel for them, and put the rib one so it would look original. The job wasn't worth doing but the owner was a nice guy and I hadn't yet learned that the primary objective was to make money!

A little over $200 delivered will give you a new Timney trigger. I ordered a Timney 788 for my Remington 581 22 LR this morning. It will certainly be an improvement over the 7lb+ factory trigger.

I have no issue with the 600/660 bolt release what so ever. People make so much fuss out of a non-issue.

Just like the dog-leg bolt handle. Almost everyone comments on its aesthetics , not its function.

Casey at Tac-Ord did both my 600 triggers years ago. They turn out to be very good triggers actually.

I do however recommend the Gre-Tan fluted firing pin and aluminum bolt shroud. Better system and lighter.

I always thought my 'mohawk' trigger as it came from the factory was pretty good.. and survived all the tests for function perfectly. Some of you guys obviously have a more "refined" trigger finger....

No one mentions the recoil lug that also protrudes from the top ...IIIRC one of my "redfield" style one piece bases uses the top protrusion of the lug to further secure the base against recoil

Yes, the EGW rails on both of mine take full advantage of that "feature" as well.
