I've just agreed to pick one of these up from a friend of mine. This is the Remington "Nylon 66" semi-auto. This particular gun is one of the most common versions, in Senaca Brown. I've seen these Nylons around for as long as I can remember but I can't recall actually ever using one.

I've read good things and bad things, but in the end it's a neat rifle for the collection, a piece of firearms engineering/innovation history.

Thoughts/tips/opinions on these, as far as accuracy and reliability is concerned? Thanks!

i hunted with one for years... they are very reliable and extremely light.. shoots good ! don't know how many hundreds of rabbits i've gotten with it

just becareful not to take it apart... lots of parts in there.. just oil and clean what you can get to with the cover off... and thats it !
- otherwise you can't kill them

my experience with them is extremely good and i'd never never sell it

To juancarlos...P&D in Edmonton carry new Remington mags for the 77. I think less than $20 for one. If you wish, I could pick you up one and mail it to you to try and if it works ok, get more for you. PM me if you're interested.

Thanks for the offer. But I am good. I have found them online before and read horrible reviews on most. I have some 5 rounders that seem to do the trick nicely. I had one 10 rounder that was excellent but I am not sure where it disappeared to.

This thing showed up this week, so a few photos of it in it's "natural habitat". Neat rifle.

Yeah it's impressed me with the small amount of use I've had a chance to give it. I haven't grouped it yet but it hits what I want it to. I agree, the mag in the stock is preferred for dense brush. Nice and light with that nylon stock and receiver...needs sling swivels. Wish it still had the iron sights on it but whatever.

Buddy I got it from used it heavily. Still functions perfectly and seems to shoot very well though. The bluing on the barrel and receiver shows its wear, but the nylon stock is in incredible condition, inside and out, despite not getting cleaned very often.

That's what interested me in it, after reading all the articles on this series of rifle - "self lubricating" properties of the nylon they made it out of. I never had an interest in these when they were still on the dealer's shelf, but now it's interesting!

I have one. Great little rifle! :) For clarification the color is Mohawk brown. The Seneca is green, which is considered a little rare and a collectors item. Grouping wise expect quarter size at 25m. And yes, it is also nice to own one of the first mass produced synthetic stock rifles.

Nice shooting esmirnow! I would be concerned about resting the muzzle on my foot too! I don't like to place the muzzle of firearms on the ground as dirt or debris may get into the muzzle. I would also be concerned about a hard surface, such as a pebble, damaging the crown. I hold my Nylon 66 pointed downward in the left hand while reloading with the right.
