Good Afternoon,

Switching from shooting 180 gr SSTs/IBs in my Rem 700 XCR 300 WM with factory barrel to shooting 210 gr Berger VLDs. I'm on the lands at a COAL of 3.649". Bullets feed out of H & S precision mags/bottom metal, but not a lot of room to spare. Is that a reasonable COAL for this combo? Seems very long. COAL for my 180s was 3.463". Starting to ladder test at 3.640". Thanks.

All right. Have answered my own question. COAL of 3.644 (5 thou off lands) gives 5 rnd groups of .7 MOA overall and vertical spread of .3 MOA at 200m. Not worried about the horizontal spread as wind was varying from 9-1 oclock at about 4 mph. Fits in H & S Precision mags. Runout less than 1 thou at neck. Now only fine load tuning left.

Thats the best your Remington can do eh? My Savage 116 in '06 shoots 0.68MOA@200M with a VXII. Sometimes money doesn't buy accuracy......

Just kidding, good job bro.
