So I've ended up with a half finished project of someone else's I have a Remington 722 barreled action in 257 Roberts with trigger and safety but no magazine box spring or follower. I have a pair of 700 stocks that I can use both are synthetic one is an ADL blind magazine the other is a BDL. Which is going to be my simpler option? Obviously with the BDL I would have to get bottom metal and I have not been able to really conclusively find out if I can use a 700 mag box or if I have to use a 722 mag box. ideally I'd like to just get a trigger guard and use the ADL stock that would be cheaper in the long run I feel and what if any modifications have to be done to the stock I can already tell just from trying to fit them together that it'll have to be thinned out a bit where the safety comes into contact

The stock would have to be altered to accept the 722 safety. Otherwise, the magazine boxes should work.

To fit a 700 trigger group to the predecessor 721 long or 722 short action you will have to machine the tang (a notch) for safety lever clearance.

The 721/722/600/660/Seven/XP-100R/XR100/673/Xp-100 use a 3rd 1/8" diameter pin for the bolt stop & a coil spring, so a 700 bolt release will NOT activate the bolt stop.

A Seven,673,XR-100 trigger's group bolt release would activate the 721/722 bolt stop.

So finally took this thing out and shot it, and was extremely surprised and impressed. 100 gr hotcors and 115 NBTs wuld do 3 just under an inch. So ill be keeping it as a 247 roberts. However, A new problem has reared its head. I thought I had the wrong follower installed as it would lock the bolt open on empty. Comparing it to a other 700s i have i realized its correct, but some ####ing moron in this guns past ground out the feed rails so it no longer works properly. So is my only option at this point an after market mag kit? I have one of the legacy sports ones on a .222 and am happy with it, probably go that route.

If the feed rails are really ground out you can use a 700 factory detachable mag and floor plate. Just have to remove a little of your stock for the tabs on the sides of the magazine that are used to remove it.
