Hey guys I am looking for some help identifying a Remington 700 Stainless Synthetic as a BDL or SPS. What should I look for to identify the model.

Is there a quality difference between the SPS and BDL stock?

the finish on the sps is quite rough the bdl is much smoother. very easy to see if there side by side. the stocks are different with the bdl being better looking. triggers are the same if there close in age. the newer ones having the x trigger.

The BDL finish is much smoother, and the stock has a hard pad, and possibly a J-lock on the bolt shroud. The SPS will have an R3 pad, and the Mark X trigger. The barrel codes will tell you year of manufacture, and the SPS SS came out in 2005.

Not all SPS SS have an X Mark trigger. I have one that is Pre X mark.

BDL's have a jeweled bolt SPS's don't

I have a couple of SPS and BDL rifles, all that I can see marked on them is "Remington Model 700", also both my SPS rifles have the old Walker trigger. The SPS rifles shoot well but the finish on them is rougher than the BDL, but then again they are considered entry level rifles.
