Remington 700 BDL ss or Windchester M70 SS ?????????

if this is true then the M70 from 2006 is not going to be crf. Its only the current production that went back to controed feed.

As Dogleg said, Classic's were CRF starting in 1992. I had a 2001 Classic SS that was CRF. The new post '08 ones are made in a different plant, with a different trigger, but are essentially the same rifle as the classic.

I am a Sako fan, but I still like Remington and Winchester for different reasons.

I love the simplicity and strength in design and the availability of aftermarket parts for the Rem 700. Accuracy and fit and finish have been in question as of late. I would take a used, 20 or 30 year old 700 over anything new from the shelf today. Not as impressed with the latest production, but still very easy to upgrade parts and build a finished product without the need of going full custom and a hefty bill from a smith.

I love Winchester's CRF and wing safety on the Win 70. Impressed by the accuracy and geometry of the most recent models that I have had in hand on the range and in the field.

My reccomendation to friends starting out is the Remington SPS if they need to keep the price down; upgrade parts later. Winchester Featherweight or Sporter if they have a few extra pennies to throw into the pot. Winchester Extreme Weather for a $1000 investment and a rifle they will keep for a lifetime and hand down to the next generation.

But, which do you like most?
