Hi guys, is the 3 screw hole pattern for scope base mounts unique to the rem 700 bdl?
I have several scope bases that are all identical with the screw patten spaced the same. The problem I find is none will match to fit the screw pattern on the 700 bdl.
Now maybe it is possible that someone drilled and tapped the holes to fit a base?
Is it more likely Remington never provided that gun with scope base option? Abd it was done later.
Thoughts?
And if a gunsmith drilled and tapped and not factory, is there Remington specific bases?

Remington 700s were always drilled and tapped when made. The spacing and layout of the 4 holes has been consistent throughout production. Only difference is long action vs short action - and the spacing of the holes on the receiver ring and rear bridge is the same.

A picture of the base you are referring to would help.
The three hole pattern on Leupold one piece bases are unique to long and short actions.
Leupold does not stamp any information on to their bases so while the front pay align, action lengths on compatible 2 piece bases in no guarantee on one piece 3-hole variations.
