I have a Remington 700 with an oversized bolt knob from the factory, came with a magpul hunter package. I would like to replace this bolt knob that came with it, with another.
I believe this is likely threaded on, but before I try and torque it off, I was hoping someone here can confirm it is actually threaded on, and not just one piece like a standard Remington bolt.
Here's a pic. Thanks in advance, Gentlemen.

Yes it's threaded and snug with loc tite. I removed mine and found the thread was coarser than I expected 5/16-18 or 5/16-20.
I'd planned to put an area 419 knob on it, but the thread is 5/16-24, so no dice. Hopefully yours has the 24 pitch thread.

Thank you for this
Like a kinder surprise, not sure until it’s opened lol. I may just leave it alone.

Don't get me wrong, I fully understand not liking the appearance of some feature on a rifle. Is your desire to replace the knob from a functional issue or purely a cosmetic issue??

That bolt knob should work just fine.

OP,
Picture is of an OEM Rem Tactical knob, not aftermarket.

As previously posted,it is of a non industry standard bastardized thread pitch & not 5/16"-24 tpi.

Also, the same configuration handle/knob installed on the 700CP-Chassis Pistol.

Excellent information gentlemen thank you. The bolt knob that came on my 700 is the oversized one from Remington that works perfectly fine, however I have a spare unused badger ordinance knob that I wanted to install, mostly due to boredom to be honest. I can confirm as well that although it will thread on, the handle thread is too long so it leaves a gap.
So now I have to buy a new rifle Because I can’t have and unused parts sitting on my workbench lol.

joe n,
option-
Install a helicoil into the Badger Ord Base Ball Bat knob to fit the OEM Remington handle.

Notice the Rem knob is perpendicular w/ center line of bolt body as per the OEM knurled oblong knobs.
unlike
The mall ninja baseball bat knobs that are installed to center line of the handle shank-aka....knuckle busters.
