this should be interesting......

im thinking about buying a higher end bolt action foir long range deer hunting sometime for next season and also maybe some 100 yard shooting or so at the range once and awhile....

im considering ethier the Remignton 700 CDL heard good things about out of box accuracy from Remignton 700's

i also like the Weatheyby Vangaurd Deluxe....

i would be moutning a good scope on the rifle....

so who own thease guns and how do they shoot:D??

oh, and what caliber would be better/more accurate .270 or .30-06? yes that a tough question:confused: or what caliber would you choose;)....

I own a Remington 700 CDL in .270, and I haven't done a whole lot of target shooting with it, but she shoots pretty well.. haven't done anything to it, it came with a 3 pound trigger out of the box.. With some winchester powerpoints I was getting some good groups. Didn't bother to record them, but in some the holes were pretty close to touching. Mounted a Leupold VX II on it, its a real nice gun.

I guess it depends on your definition of long-range but not sure I'd consider either a long-range cartridge....to 300 yards you bet but after that I hate to say it but a 7mm of some magnum configuration might be a better choice or a .30-378...50BMG.......

sorry should of specified by long range i mean like 250 yards or less.....:sniper:

not long long range but longer range deer hunting then i want to do with my CZ 858 lol....

I bought a Rem 700 CDL Boone & Crockett in a 7MM RM.After "fixing" the trigger it will shoot 1/2-5/8" groups @ 100 with reloads and 3/4" with cheapo Federal Classic ammo.Hard to beat that for an out of box gun I think.

i would love to go with the .257 weatherby mag but im worried about barrel life since i will shoot this gun at the range as well im actully thinking of the Vangaurd deluxe in .300 wby mag now....better for long range and a bit easier on barrels....
