Hey guys,

Anyone seen this yet? https://www.remington.com/home-security

https://www.range365.com/remington-introduces-model-700-chassis-pistol

The 308 has a 12.5" barrel, and if you put a stock on it, it would make a sweet little handy sub 500yd rig. I am obsessed with small/compact handy firearms though, so it may just be me :)

I hope someone brings this in, because I might just pick one up!

all they need to do is invent a proprietary 30 cal mag that contains 20 rnds, but also happens to miraculously fit DPMS pattern 308 ar10s lol.

That said, I think that, with a stock this would be pure ### lol.

Technically, even at 21" it should be non-restricted right?
As long as it doesn't have a folding/telescopic stock
I'm worried that since Remington called it a pistol, it will be classed as a pistol here too and therefore restricted, just like the Ruger Charger

And now all mags over 10 for 700's are prohib.

No.

It can't be operated one handed so shouldn't be classed a pistol up here. OAL is of no consequence from factory.

Absolutely true, but not relevant.

Regulations Prescribing Certain Firearms and Other Weapons said:

(iii) an automatic firearm whether or not it has been altered to discharge only one projectile with one pressure of the trigger,

(iv) the firearms of the designs commonly known as the Ingram M10 and M11 pistols, and any variants or modified versions of them, including the Cobray M10 and M11 pistols, the RPB M10, M11 and SM11 pistols and the SWD M10, M11, SM10 and SM11 pistols,

(v) the firearm of the design commonly known as the Partisan Avenger Auto Pistol, and any variant or modified version of it, or

(vi) the firearm of the design commonly known as the UZI pistol, and any variant or modified version of it, including the Micro-UZI pistol; or

Not semi-automatic. Not applicable or relevant. Magazines designed for use in manual action firearms have no magazine limit.

I think Jerry is right in saying that one could simply build such a rifle (for cheaper or similar cost too likely). I'll be looking into building a short precision rifle. After reading into it quite a bit there is nothing wrong with it minus a few hundred fps velocity loss. I have enjoyed my 16.5" rifles but I want to try something maybe more is the 14-13" range in the next couple of years. Might just replace the barrel on my 783 :)

Driller212, you are a braver man than me sir. Shorter than 16 pump shotgun. Sure for bush carry. And I don't mind this in say a 44 Mag or 30-30. But for more intense cartridges, no thanks buddy. I prefer my precision rifles to have pipes longer than 22 inches. Too each his own.

Its not bad if you are behind it, and it also helps to have a blast shield to help direct gasses and sound forwards. Much better than sitting next to a 300winmag or a 338 lapua.
