Hello fellas, i've got a Remington 700 DM in 243 and the feeding is not so good. In the mg the shells are touching at the shoulder but are loose at the but end and the end is sometimes to low for the bolt to pick up. Should I bend the backs of the feed lips in a smidge?

Chad

Try spreading the inside of the magazine without affecting the lips... sometimes you can do that with needle nose pliers pulling the handles apart forcing the pliers open...

Okay, tried this and not much better. I assume this was to make sure the follower was not rubbing? Thanks for the help Dennis. If pictures will help I can provide. I will keep trying!

Check that the spring on cartridge follower in the mag is adjusted correctly to give enough pressure on the rear of the shells, it should support the shells fairly equally front to back.

If the shells are jamming width wise at the front of the magazine, they will be loose at the rear of the magazine...

It is a newer one, about 2yrs old. i built a custom with this action for about 300 rounds of 6br and now have put it back to its original. i have shot only 12 rounds and it seems nicely accurate, head space was and is a touch long from factory, can just chamber a no go but I've seen worse. All in all nice rifle.
Now they are lose at the back as i can pivot the rear of the shell out away from the lips and back and when the rear sits down a bit and doesn't touch the lip the bolt will not pick it up.

Bought a new mag and it works fine! So now to make the first one work! The feed lips are a little different so I will reshape and measure it, and make it work.

Thanks again.
