Has anyone out there had a kit installed in their 700 to decrease lock time. I am just wondering how much of a difference it makes as my gunsmith is so busy getting him to do stuff is like pulling teeth and I don't want to leave another gun there for a few months if the results aren't worth it.
I'm not sure the name of the kit that he has but it is just a lighter pin and a stronger spring as far as I know.
The only sore spot I have with this rifle is the lock time and even if it brought it up to something like a tikka I would be happy.

Do it yourself. The bolt shroud, pin, spring etc. come pre-assembled and last time I tried, were shippable from the USA without hassle. Try e-mailing Russ Hayden's shooting supply and see what they can do.

I had a Tubb kit in mine before I sold the rifle. It improved the lock time but I can't say for sure if it actually improved my scores in competition. I competed for an entire season with the kit installed but I think my improved scores, IMHO, were a result of reading the conditions a little better at every match.

The problem of lock time is it is great thing for hunting or on a moving target. But in the target game the stronger spring introduce a harmonic or a viration that moves the rifle around before the bullet leaves the muzzle. BR shooter have the best accuracy with weaker spring. my 2 cents
