Took my new 5r apart and noticed the trigger guard/ floor plate is super light weight what material is it? definetly not steel, any suggestions for something tougher or is what I have good enough? I plan on keeping and using this rifle for a very long time.

Thank you!

pretty sure they are cast aluminum, but not 100% sure. mine has lasted 3 hunting seasons, numerous drops, target shoot outtings and so on, they arnt indistructable but tough enough... i woulnt spend the money on buying somthing else (only realy option is a DBM system) unless u want DBM or you break it. and if its broken gun still works fine

it's not plastic it's aluminum. Some high quality aftermarket bottom metals are also made of aluminum, if it was the wrong material they wouldn't be using it. Again I think your worrying about nothing.

Probably either cast Aluminum, or sintered aluminum (powdered aluminum pressed into the shape and then heated to "bond" it permanently)

I wouldn't worry about either, trigger guard is very unlikely to get directly impacted, and the material should be more than strong enough to survive any impacts unless you're using it as a club!

.....Guess those damn baby seals will live to fight another day...

It's aluminum and yer #### won't fall off  whooops, I better go and have a look again. My 2 Remmy's are running strong with the factory bottom metal, but one of them will wear an AICS for the magazine upgrades!

Cheers,
Barney
