Remington 700 MLR in .338LM

Edmonton's Lock N' Load are expecting a few in the new year...Talked to Blair about them & he said they should for $1600-1700ish CDN..Can't wait to check it out...As for the ammo issue, I know there is a place in BC where you can get them...I am trying to get my boss to order some for sale in our store since we had 2 people this week asking to buy them but we didn't have' em in stock

Does anybody know, where to get .338 Lupua Mag in the Edmonton area???

Oh, and I talked to Rick from A-T-R at the gunshow today. He said that he'd recently spoken to Remington about these, and that they'd be starting production in January.

I'll be talking to Rick tomorrow at the Edmonton gunshow about all of this, & will keep you posted..

Milarm has some "Black Hills" in stock, P&D has brass, once fired, $2.00 each (hmmmmmmmmmmm) and you can have the 1000, 300gr Sierra HPBT I ordered from Wholesale, only cost you $680.00 plus tax, or $34.00 a box per 50 rounds, that what they list it for in the cataloge. I made a contact in the states and get 1000 rounds for $210.00 US plus the shipping. I'm making my .338's for $1.51 right now and grinning from ear to ear!!!

Good luck, meet me at Genesee during the week and you can try mine:)

The big difference in Weatherby and other lesser manufacturers(almost all), is brass quality. As mentioned, the .338LM is based on the .416 Rigby, but the design specs had very high velocity requiring pressures that the base case could not handle. The case was redesigned for strength, resulting in what the Western world considers as the cartridge for the Medium Range Sniper Rifle System (MRSR).

Weatherby brass is made by Norma. They have a number of high-pressure cases built upon a 416 rigby foundation. I don't believe that they make a 338 lapua, but their 338-378 is rather similar

i have a nice rem 721 worked over in 338 LM improved. i have a 32" full bull RKS bbl on it. the bolt face was opened up, and a sako extractor used. works great, and shoots great. useing S mk 300s im up to 2840 over the crony. im sure i can go farther, but i dont have a muzzel brake, and its very accurate where it is, so ive not experimented any farther.

not till 2008/2009

Spoke to the Remington Law Enforcement Rep at Shot Show quote "dont expect to see any till mid-late 2008" saw the sample rifle definatly very nice

Here is the picture Remington sent me quite some time ago showing the altered boltface and extractor. That angle of extraction throws fired cases up into the scope on ejection... more so with 30mm tubes.

With the production being held off until 2008 or later I would not be surprised to see a larger version of the 700 made. An upscaled true Magnum action using the original 700 style extractor... Lets hope!

If Remington decides to beef up their current magnum action to accommodate the .338 Lapua Magnum and still retain the "three rings of steel" I'd definitely be in for one. Don't see it happening if they stick with the SAKO extractor mod. From my perspective, it is dangerous, even if its a one in a million chance of something going wrong. I'd also prefer the longer tube for this project.

UPDATE: Just talked to the Remington Canada rep today & he tells me that they are coming to Canada late September 2007..

Model 40X-S in .338 Lapua Magnum &
Model 700P in .338 Lapua Magnum also (MLR? has a Mag, break & different/bigger stock than the regular 700P).

Price is unknown for Canada so far..

It be in this summer for sure, I can't wait to laid my hand on it, make sure you leave one aside for me, with bullet&brass...

The only 2 stores that I know who will have these 4 sale in Alberta, would be Wholesale Sports & Lock N' Load so far...

I would suspect that Milarms, P&D Ent & TSE in Calgary should carry these also..

The un nameable guy in Calgary has had 40 of them on order ( bought and paid for) for over a year, I have money on 1 of them, he tells me that the Remington people he met with in Edmonton 2 days ago, will be filling his order as soon as they become available, which should make them the 1st order in Canada.
