I have the opportunity to pick up a 700 mountain stainless synthetic in .338. It has a Japanese Bausch & Laumb (spelling?) 4-16x and a muzzle brake. Rifle has been unfired since purchase and has original box. Scope was mounted new and bore sighted. I have no need for this calber and it would strictly be for turn over. I wish it was a 270. I know this is useless without pics, but it's a fairly common rifle. I think the caliber hurts its value in southern Ontario, but perhaps out west it may find a home? Any opinions on value?

I don't believe Remington ever made a 700 Mtn Rifle in anything larger than 30-06. It's more likely a Model 700 BDL Stainless

Value with the brake, $600 maybe. Scope approx $200

That's why I'm having a hard time finding comparables. Rifle is definitely stamped mountain . Google found one similar(338 ) on a photo site, but not for sale.

Does it have a floor plate or blind mag?
Possibly a stainless KS Mountain Rifle...
Not that they were stamped “mountain” anywhere

Mountain rifles have a very light barrel and I have never seen one with a magnum contour barrel.

Why not post a couple of pictures...

If it is a KS mtn rifle the guy that built it will have his initials stamped on the recoil lug.

Not much of a rifle though I hear.
