Remington 700 police ammo/pictures******PICS UP*** not 56k friendly

So my scope mounts are comming in tommrow and i will be ready to shoot my new gun. I have asked alot of questions on here and i take the time to thank everyone for there advice. So the final set up is this a new Remington 700 police, EGW one pice base with 20moa, Felcom optics 4.5-18 x 56mm scope. Burris XTR rings, Harris 6-9'' bipod. As i have been reading many articles this gun is sed to shoot from 1.5-.25 ar 100 yards depends who you talk to. from what i have seen my barrel is a 1in12 twist with likes the heavy ammo. Is this true ? i have seen 168grain ammo and 175 grain ammo match grade. witch one will work best in my rifle?. I will post some pics tommrow night so eveyone can see what i have pondered up . Thanks agane for all the advice and this i think was the best choice for my skill level and budget. And as i grow with more experance it will be a easy rifle to upgrade. Thanks Andrew

Sierra,s work great for me the 168gr have BC of .462 they will work great from 500 down, but the bigger ones for 500 and out,175gr 495 to 505BC depends on speed and the 200 have a BC of 565 above 2100 fps.The hornady 208gr have BC 648
But the big bullets have lots of recoil

That is going to be a sweet rig but the 1 in 12 is for the lighter pills not the heavier ones. It will throw the 168's down range but I wouldn't try anything heavier. Some people say they shoot the 175's in a 1 in 12 with good results but you'd be better off sticking to 155 palmas and 168's. Another thing to remember is that VLD bullets of the same weight take a tighter twist to throw than a standard bullet. Just my 2 cents. Let us know how she shoots.:sniper:

How's the cheek weld and site picture on that? I don't think I've ever seen a 56mm objective so high off the barrel. If it's a problem, you could probably put a weaver 2-piece base on it and it'd be fine.
 
Hey excellent set up im actually thinking of getting the exact same thing. If you dont mind, how do you like the scope? Does it track well and give a good clear picture?

the picture is clear and i have not shot it yet i will let you know on saterday after i get to the range. i will post some pics of the target too so you can see the grouping's.
 
Very nice setup...I am looking at putting something together very similiar on a Rem 700 SS 5R Milspec. But I am curious about the ring height, I plan on using Burris XTR's as well with a Falcon with a 44mm objective and want to know what ring height to use. Can you tell me what you used on yours with the 56mm? It looks a tad high for my liking but not sure. Thanks

Get the lowest TXR base Burris offers. It'll give you all the room you need and then some. Especially, if you use a rail like the one pictured above.
 
I love my Rem700P and it shoots great. I don't have the optic set you have so you should have a blast!

Looks kinda like mine :).
Mine really seems to like the 175's - when I'm ever actually competent enough to do my part, she can shoot about 1/3 inch. The 175's work a lot better out to longer ranges, so try 'em both out and see what it likes.
And yes, get the lowest rings you can - I started out with medium rings and even those ended up being too high with the 50mm obj. If cheekweld's a problem, get an Eagle Rifle Cheekpad from Oneshottactical.
